Punahou alum Keith Uperesa joins Nicholls State football staff

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State football coach Charlie Stubbs has hired Keith Uperesa, a Punahou School alum, and Chuck Hepola to his coaching staff.
Uperesa coach the offensive line, while Hepola will coach the running backs and serve as the recruiting coordinator.
Uperesa, a 1974 Punahou graduate, comes to Nicholls after serving as an offensive line/tight ends coach at the UNLV for the past five seasons from 2005-09. He has also had coaching stints at Utah, USC and Idaho State.
Uperesa, an All-Western Athletic Conference offensive tackle at BYU, went on to a brief NFL career with Denver and Oakland. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1984 and master's in 1986 from BYU, where he began coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 1985, according to the UNLV Web site.
Hepola, a native of Tulsa, Okla., comes to Nicholls from Louisiana-Monroe where he served as the Director of Football Operations during the 2009 season.
Hepola spent the previous four years as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at East Central University, and also coached on Stubbs' staff at Tulsa in 2003.
