Retired U.S. career diplomat to speak at Rotary meeting
Lauren Moriarty, a United States career diplomat for 29 years, including ambassador to APEC, will speak at the Rotary Club of Waikiki's meeting on March 10 at the Pacific Beach Hotel.
The public is invited to attend. The event will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the hotel's Mahimahi Room.
Moriarty, who retired in 2007, will speak about the upcoming APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) 101 Conference, to be held in Honolulu next year.
Her postings included Bangkok, Islamabad, Beijing, Taipei and Washington, D.C. She advanced U.S. interests in trade, transportation, health, education and security and helped shape Washington's policy on multilateral aid and international finance.
Lunch is $17 and includes parking. Reservations are not required.
