Alice is the muse this spring as designers take a trip through the looking glass into Wonderland.
Tim Burton's movie remake of the classic "Alice in Wonderland," opening March 5, is inspiring everything from flirty dresses to nail polish and teapots.
We're inspired too, as we interpret Alice as she might have appeared in the 1951 Disney film and in 2010.
Designers have picked up on the motif. Read on for details. ...
"Alice in Wonderland" has motivated designers. Sue Wong has created a collection using antique lace and colors inspired by the characters. Anna Sui's silhouettes take a decidedly fairytale turn, while edgy designer Junya Watanabe has a black-and-white collection that would make the Mad Hatter swoon. Zac Posen collaborated on Wonderland-themed jewelry he describes as "Lewis Carroll meets Paloma Picasso." Swarovski invented a line of Alice-inspired jewelry. Urban Decay's adorable Alice eyeshadow book sold out its first run at Sephora in a matter of days. Even www.TheTieBar.com is touting ties fit for Tim Burton and company. Versace, Blumarine, Tom Binns, Furla and furniture designer Tord Boontje are also taken with the classic tale.
