A 38-year-old man sustained scrapes to his right knee and left toes Thursday while taking a digital camera back from a man who broke into his car at a Laie beach, police said.
The camera owner told police he had parked his car at the beach about 3:05 p.m. and was nearby when he saw a man smash one of the car windows, reach inside and steal the camera.
The camera owner said he confronted and struggled with the man, and was able to get the camera back, after which the would-be thief jumped into a waiting car and left the area.
Police made a traffic stop about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Kahekili Highway and Hui Iwa Street in Ahuimanu and arrested the suspect, a 24-year-old Ewa Beach resident, on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
A 21-year-old Hauula man who was in the same car with the theft suspect when it was pulled over was also arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
