NFL: Police: Ex-Lion Rogers arrested, due back in court
Associated Press
NOVI, Mich — Police say former Detroit Lions and Michigan State receiver Charles Rogers has been arrested after apparently drinking too much and passing out at a Mexican restaurant.
Novi Deputy Chief Tom Lindberg tells The Detroit News that Rogers was arrested at the suburban Detroit restaurant about 3:15 p.m. EST Tuesday on a suspected probation violation. Police tell the News that employees were unable to rouse Rogers.
The 28-year-old Saginaw native and second overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft pleaded guilty in September to operating while visibly impaired and re-entered a sobriety court program, which involves intensive counseling and testing.
Rogers is scheduled to appear Wednesday before Novi District Judge Brian MacKenzie.
Messages were left with police and Rogers' lawyer, Justin Barnett.
