Officials yesterday identified an 81-year-old man who died after falling from the Pali Lookout Monday as Simon Cho of Honolulu.

Cho died of multiple internal injuries as a result of the fall, according to the city medical examiner's office. A determination of the manner of death was deferred.

Police said Cho was at the lookout with his wife when he climbed outside the railing. The wife said she saw her husband slip and fall about 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Fire rescue personnel rappelled about 200 to 250 feet below the lookout, where they found Cho's body at about 11 a.m. Because the trail was overgrown, it took firefighters about three hours to recover the body.
