A high-surf warning remains in effect through tomorrow afternoon for north- and west-facing shores of Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Läna'i and Maui and west-facing shores of the Big Island.

The warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow.

The National Weather Service said a large northwest swell is gradually making its way down the island chain.

Surf along north-facing shores of Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i and Maui was expected to be 25 to 35 feet overnight last night, the weather service says. Waves on west-facing shores will be in the 15- to 20-foot range.

The swell also has prompted the weather service to issue a small-craft advisory for most state waters.

Meanwhile, southwest winds continue to carry vog across the state. The haze is expected to linger through today before trade winds return tomorrow.
