Fresno State routs Rainbows

The Rainbow Wahine basketball team lost at Fresno State, 83-42, in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams yesterday.
Keisha Kanekoa scored 11 points for Hawai'i (6-8, 0-1 WAC) and Briauna Linton added seven points off the bench.
Tied at 9 in the first half, the Bulldogs scored 13 straight points to pull away. Hawai'i shot just 36 percent (17 of 47) from the field and had 29 turnovers.
Jaleesa Ross scored 18 points for Fresno State (10-5, 1-0 WAC), which shot 52 percent (30 of 58) from the field and made 14 of 30 3-pointers.
STRENGTH COACHING
UH TO HOST CLINIC JAN. 30
The University of Hawai'i will host its first Strength Coaches Clinic Jan. 30 at the Alex Waterhouse Training Facility on the Mānoa campus.
The day-long event will begin at 9 a.m. and feature speakers from UH, Texas, Southern California, Oregon State and Utah.
Topics will include football and volleyball offseason conditioning, nutrition, speed and agility, coaching effectiveness and team accountability.

ROLLER DERBY
WINDWARD MALL TOURNEY
Hawai'i Pacific Roller Derby will hold its second annual SK808 Tournament starting at noon Saturday in the Windward Mall parking structure.
Women's teams from O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i, California, Texas, Minnesota, Washington and Canada will participate in the fundraising event.
Tickets are available at www.pacificrollerderby.com and are $7 in advance, and $10 at the door, with a discount for military and students with valid ID. Free admission for children under 12.
