Lifeguards will assess safety of water after shark sighting
Lifeguards will assess waters around Mä'ili Beach Park this morning after a 10-foot shark was spotted there about 1:30 p.m. yesterday by a police officer.
Lifeguards cleared the water of swimmers and posted warning signs, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.
Cheplic said a lifeguard patrolling the area did not see the shark but that the incident is considered a confirmed sighting. Warning signs were to remain up overnight.
