SEATTLE — Washington coach Steve Sarkisian says he has not been contacted by Southern California, which is about to lose coach Pete Carroll to the NFL.

Sarkisian wrote in a text message to The Associated Press that USC has not contacted him about any coaching opportunity.
Rumors abound in Los Angeles that Carroll’s offensive coordinator until he took his first head coaching job with the Huskies 12 months ago is atop the Trojans’ wish list for replacing his mentor. Carroll is expected to sign a contract to coach the Seattle Seahawks.
Friday, Sarkisian said with a laugh that it “would be fun” to join Carroll in being head coaches in the same city.
