Police last night were investigating a shooting after a man showed up at the Sunset Beach fire station at 6:54 p.m. and said he had been shot.

“We treated him for what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg,” said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

The injury didn’t appear to be life-threatening and the man was transferred to Emergency Medical Services care at 7:10 p.m., Seelig said.

Seelig said he didn’t know the circumstances of the shooting. Police last night said officers were still at the scene about 10:30 p.m. The shooting reportedly happened at or near Waialeçe Beach Park near Kawela Bay.
