A high-surf warning remains in effect today for most of Hawaii’s north- and west-facing shores.
The National Weather Service says a rising northwest swell will produce very large surf through this afternoon.
The warning will remain in effect until 6 tonight.
The warning areas include Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui.
West-facing shores of the Big Island are under a high-surf advisory.
Waves are forecast in the 20- to 25-foot range for north shores and 12 to 20 feet along west-facing shores.
Meanwhile, high pressure northwest of the Islands will bring cool, dry and breezy weather through tonight.
Persistent high pressure north of the area will produce moderate to fresh trade winds starting tomorrow and continuing through the middle of next week, the weather service says in its area synopsis. The trades will bring a few showers to windward areas but rainfall will remain light.
