Ohana Waikiki Malia gets a makeover

The Ohana Waikiki Malia hotel has completed a $6.6 million renovation of its rooms and lobby.
The hotel is offering residents a chance to stay in the updated hotel with rates starting at $89 per night, plus 50 percent off overnight parking.
All guest rooms in the Malia Tower — known for its large rooms — have been remodeled and updated to include modern amenities such as new 32-inch televisions, complimentary high-speed Internet access, refrigerator, safe and energy-efficient air-conditioning system.
KAISER MOANALUA PROJECT ENTERS PHASE II
Kaiser Permanente said the second phase of the expansion and renovation of its Moanalua Medical Center campus will begin this spring with the complete renovation of Moanalua's six-floor ancillary wing.
The $140 million makeover will cover 158,000 square feet of space and result in the the addition of more than 80 patient beds, family waiting areas, a meditation room, advanced imaging technology and an outdoor garden lānai for patients and staff.
In April 2008, Kaiser Permanente completed Phase I of the project with the unveiling of a new six-story, 134,000-square-foot tower. The $130 million Phase I project was the first major renovation since the medical center opened in 1985.
PACIFIC CENTURY FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE
Fund for the Pacific Century is accepting applications for its 2010 Pacific Century Fellows program.
The program, established in 1996 by Mayor Mufi Hannemann and modeled after the White House Fellows Program, is designed to recognize and nurture Hawai'i's young leaders who will continue to make a difference in the state's future and community service.
The nine-month program is open to 30 to 35 individuals in the community who are in their mid-20s to early 40s. The applicants will be interviewed and selected by a committee based on their ability to set and achieve goals, leadership qualities and volunteer and civic activities. Finalists will be selected and must be available for interviews on March 6.
Individual companies may sponsor candidates for this program. The tuition is $3,000 to cover program expenses. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 1 and sent to: Pacific Century Fellows Program, P.O. Box 161000, Honolulu, HI 96816.
