Soccer: Donovan may extend Everton loan beyond March

LIVERPOOL, England — Landon Donovan may stay at Everton if his 10-week loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy continues to be successful.
The United States international has made a strong impression during his first two matches on the right wing for the Premier League club, but he is scheduled to head back to Major League Soccer for the opening game on March 27, and Donovan signed a new contract will the Galaxy through 2013.
"The future is out of my control," Donovan said. "But who knows what will happen in the future. Football's funny and you never know what could happen.
"If I look back after 10 weeks and say I really want to stay then maybe I can make that happen. If I say OK it was good, but I'm ready to go then I can go, but for now I'm taking it week by week."
