Chevron not sure if global restructuring will affect Hawaii operations
Chevron Corp. said it will be restructuring its refining, marketing and other business later this year, but declined to say if any of the forecast job losses will involve its operations in Hawaiçi.
The company, which operates one of two Hawaiçi refineries, said it will release more details in March and that it intends to have the new operational structure in place by the third quarter.
Spokesman Lloyd Avram, speaking from Chevrons offices in San Ramon, California, said the announcement was made to employees yesterday.
Its going to be a leaner organization, Avram said, declining to be more specific or whether the Hawaiçi operations will be affected.
The company said its downstream business employs 18,000 workers around the world, including those at five refineries in the U.S.
