The Hawaii State Teachers Association announced Wednesday that Jim Williams has joined HSTA as interim executive director.

Williams, a former teacher, previously served as HSTA president (1980-1982) and HSTA interim executive director. He has been the administrator for the Hawaii Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund.
Williams, who retired from his EUTF position Dec. 31, replaces Interim Executive Director Dwight Takeno, who left HSTA at the end of 2009 to return to the University of Hawaii. The HSTA is completing a search for a permanent executive director.
