Rudy Krause has been honored as the 2010 Chester Kahapea Volunteer of the Year for outstanding service to Friends of Hawai'i Charities and the Sony Open in Hawai'i.
Krause has volunteered for 27 years with Sony and, previously, the Hawaiian Open. He has served as Division Chairman of the Operations II Committee. Krause and his team have been responsible for most of the on-course setup and operations.
"Rudy has devoted his time, expertise and energy to this tournament," said Ian MacLean, Sony Chair of Ropes & Stakes, who nominated Krause for the award. "He is also very innovative as he designed the reels and stands used by our committee and which have become a standard for not only this event, but others."
