34 from UH earn WAC academic honors

Thirty-four student-athletes from the University of Hawai'i have been named to the Western Athletic Conference's all-academic team for the fall.
The UH student-athletes named included 15 from football, nine from soccer, seven from women's volleyball and three from cross country.
Student-athletes must have completed one academic year to be eligible, hold at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and play in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

SNOWBOARDING
A FIRST FOR HIGHT
Former Kaua'i resident Elena Hight won the women's snowboard superpipe final for the first time in her Winter Dew Tour career last Saturday at Ogden, Utah.
The 20-year-old Hight, who now lives in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., had a run that included a frontside 540, a backside 900 and a cab 720 to earn her a winning score of 92.50.
"I haven't had a win in a couple years, so it feels really good to win," said Hight.
DIVING
BOCKSNICK HONORED
University of Hawai'i freshman Hannah Bocksnick has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events at last week's Rainbow Diving Invite.
Bocksnick, who is from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, won the 1-meter with a score of 279.60 and the 3-meter with a score of 331.80.
This is Bocksnick's second WAC Diver of the Week honor this season.
