USC’s Barkley has minor surgery on right wrist

LOS ANGELES — Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley had what was described as minor arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist Tuesday morning.
The university said the surgery was intended to relieve stiffness in Barkley’s wrist and clean up inflammation.
Barkley, who last year became the first non-redshirt freshman quarterback to start a season opener for the Trojans, is expected to recover within four weeks and be ready to participate in spring practice at the end of March.
USC plays Hawaii Thursday, Sept. 2 at Aloha Stadium.
