CFB: Move over blue, Eastern Washington to install red artificial turf

Associated Press

CHENEY, Wash. — Taking a cue from Boise State's famous blue turf, the Eastern Washington football program is planning to install red turf on its field in Cheney, Wash.

Former Eastern Washington football star Michael Roos has pledged $500,000 toward the project. He now plays for the Tennessee Titans.

Eastern officials said the red artificial turf will be the first in the nation. They hope to have it installed for the 2010 season. The Eagles' colors are red and white.

Woodward Field has had natural grass since it was built in 1967.
