A woman was killed and two men were seriously injured last night in a head-on crash on Kūhiō Highway in Kīlauea, Kaua'i.
Kaua'i County officials identified the victim as Gloria Agcaoili, 70, of Kōloa.
She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Kōloa man.
Officials said a preliminary report indicated that a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old New Jersey man was traveling north on Kūhiō Highway when he crossed the center line between mile markers 22 and 23 in Kīlauea about 5:17 p.m. and collided with a south-bound vehicle driven by the Kōloa man.
Agcaoili, a passenger in the south-bound vehicle, died at the scene.
The New Jersey man was the sole occupant of his vehicle. The two men were transported to Wilcox Hospital for treatment. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
Agcaoili is the sixth traffic fatality on Kaua'i this year.
The south-bound lane of Kūhiō Highway was closed following the crash. One lane of traffic was open in both directions using a shoulder lane. The highway was reopened at 8:05 p.m.
