Na Pali state park to be closed this weekend for controlled hunt
Advertiser Staff
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources will close Kauai's Na Pali Coast State Park on Saturday and Sunday to conduct a controlled hunt aimed at reducing feral pig and goat populations.
DLNR says signs announcing the closure of Hanakoa and Kalalau valley campgrounds will be posted on the Na Pali Trail. No camping permits are being issued for these days.
The Kalalau trail from Kee to Hanakapiai valley and beach will not be affected and will remain open to the public.
DLNR says the animal control will take place from Hoolulu valley (3.5 miles) to Kalalau valley (11 miles) and will use public hunters.
A second animal-control hunt is scheduled for Aug. 28-29.
