HONOLULU — The White House has announced the dates of next year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in Hawaii.
Thursday's announcement said President Obama will meet with Asia-Pacific leaders Nov. 12-13, 2011.
The announcement says Obama is looking forward to welcoming his fellow APEC economy leaders to the state where he was born.
Obama chose Hawaii to host the 21-member conference. The event will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center near Waikiki.
The White House says the U.S. will use the opportunity of chairing APEC to highlight the potential the Asia-Pacific region holds for American companies and workers. APEC's core mission of spurring mutually beneficial regional economic integration will also be promoted.
