Arizona State rolls past Rainbows in NCAA baseball regionals, 12-1

Seth Blair scattered three hits over seven innings to lead No. 1 Arizona State over Hawai'i, 12-1, today at the NCAA Tempe, Ariz. Regional at Packard Stadium.

The Rainbows (34-27) will play San Diego (37-21) in an elimination at 10 a.m., HST tomorrow. The winner returns to play ASU at 3 p.m. If the Sun Devlis win, they advance to the Super Regionals. If not, a winner-take-all game will be played Monday by the same teams.

Blair (12-0) struck out eight and walked one for ASU (49-8). The only run he allowed was solo home run to Jeffrey Van Doornum in the seventh.

Josh Slaats (5-4) was tagged for six runs (five earned), five hits and a walk in 1 1/3 inngs for the Rainbows.

Zack MacPhee, Johnny Ruettiger and Daven Marrero each drove in three runs for the Sun Devils, the national top seed. MacPhee, Kole Calhoun, Ruettiger and Raoul Torrez each homered for ASU.

San Diego eliminated Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 22-1, today to play another day.
