'Glee' praised

TV PROGRAM TOUTED FOR POSITIVE EFFECTS

So interesting watching the news these days. On May 24, KHON featured a young man concerned that HB 444 will result in homosexuality being taught in the schools (whatever that means).

The following night, the TV show "Glee" was being touted for all the positive effects it's having on Hawai'i's high school students.

That same night, the "Glee" episode featured a father making a heartwarming defense of his gay high school son saying that the "F word" has gone the way of the "N word."

If this is what the boy concerned about homosexuality being taught in the schools meant, I'd say the popular TV show "Glee" is already doing a good job at what's being taught about homosexuality (along with all the singing and dancing). And I hope Gov. Linda Lingle was watching.

DJOU VICTORY

READER HOPES DEMS WILL WIN BACK SEAT

As a lifelong Democrat, the shock of Charles Djou winning the 1st Congressional District's special election has sunk in hard for me.

The last time that someone of Chinese descent served in Congress was Sen. Hiram Fong from 1959 to 1977. So, "Gongxi" and "Zhu Ni Haoyun," Mr. Djou.

I do hope, though, that in the fall election, the Democrats will unite under one candidate and retake the 1st Congressional District seat vacated by Neil Abercrombie, now running for Hawai'i governor.

DEMOCRATS

INOUYE HAS SERVED TOO LONG; TIME TO GO

Dan Inouye was once good for the state of Hawai'i. Now he is on prime time. Past his prime and time to go. His decisions of late have been senseless. To save any future embarrassment, he should step down.

Aloha Dan.

BRING IT BACK

TRUMP COULD RETURN SUPERFERRY TO STATE

Now that the election for the congressional seat is over, let's concentrate on our sagging economy.

How about revitalizing the Superferry as a start?

We need someone who has the wherewithal and confidence that the Superferry system could be a success.

Maybe someone like Donald Trump could be that person.
