Kapolei standoff ended peacefully
Police evacuated an area of Kapolei early this morning after an armed man barricaded himself with a gun at a residence, police said.
The incident began at 12:30 a.m. and ended around 10 a.m. with no one being injured, police said. It began as a domestic disturbance, said Capt. Kent Harada.
The man, an ex-boyfriend, briefly held two adult women and two children but released them soon after barricading himself in the residence, Harada said. Police would not release the exact address of the residence.
The man did hold a gun on himself. The police brought in their Specialized Services Division and Criminal Investigations hostage negotiator who were able to talk him out of the house at 10 a.m., police said.
