FERREIRAS, Portugal — Second-half substitute Lauren Cheney scored twice to lead the United States over Sweden 2-0 Monday and put the Americans in their eighth consecutive Algarve Cup final.
Cheney gave the U.S. the lead in the 56th minute when she ran onto a pass from Casey Nogueira, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home from a tight angle. Cheney added her third goal of the tournament with three minutes left on a powerful shot into the top left corner.
The United States (3-0) has won the title six times in nine years.
