Waiawa brush fire reported contained

A brush fire that burned an estimated 30 acres in Waiawa has been contained, the Honolulu Fire Department reported.
The fire was declared contained as of 6:20 p.m., Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said. It began about 2:20 a.m.
The fire burned vacant, unimproved land in the Waiawa area. No structures were threatened.
The cause of the fire was not determined.
About 30 firefighters and two helicopters fought the blaze. HFD will return to the area if any flare-ups are reported.
