The weather service says strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can create what it calls rapid fire growth potential.
Residents in leeward areas should be especially vigilant.
Strong trade winds are expected to continue blowing through this evening.
The weather service says trades will be 20 mph to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
A wind advisory meaning 30-mph winds are expected has been posted.
Yesterday, strong winds helped keep an early-morning brushfire in the Waiawa area burning into the evening.
The fire which burned about 30 acres of vacant land was reported about 2:20 a.m. in an area off Mililani Cemetery Road.
Firefighters said they had the blaze contained by 5:30 a.m., but winds kicked up later in the morning and the fire began to creep up the side of a ravine. Firefighters were finally able to contain the fire by 6:20 p.m.
