'Hawaiian Style' chips, onion rings subject of recall

State health officials have been notified of a voluntary recall by Tim’s Cascade Snacks of its Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips in Sweet Maui Onion flavor and Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion Rings.
The Washington state company said they could be contaminated with Salmonella, because they contain hydrolyzed vegetable protein manufactured, distributed and recalled by Basic Food Flavors Inc. of Las Vegas.
The Department of Health on Wednesday said it will notify product distributors and retailers to remove the products from sale.The department said it will follow up with onsite visits Thursday to ensure the recalled products have been removed from store shelves.
Health officials said they have received no reports of illness related to the recalled products.
