Suspected arsonist in McCully fire indicted

Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old man who allegedly set a McCully apartment building fire that left four families homeless was indicted Wednesday morning on a charge of first-degree arson.

Kevin Yang is accused of starting the Friday blaze that destroyed two apartments and heavily damaged two others at a Hauoli Street building.
The fire started in the unit where Yang lived and he was seen running away from the scene, Deputy Prosecutor Lynn Park said in court Wednesday morning.
Circuit Judge Richard Perkins set bail at $100,000 after Park said Yang is considered dangerous and is now transient and homeless.
