KYLE KAGAMIDA'S FASHION TIPS
1. If wearing a polo shirt, go for a fitted style. Loose and baggy make you look sloppy and bigger than you actually are.2. With jeans, get them hemmed and be sure they fit. Long, sloppy, baggy jeans are so '90s. It's time for fitted straight-leg jeans. They make for a longer, leaner look. 3. When it comes to shoes, Converse is always in, whether the canvas ones or the leather Chuck Taylors. They go with everything. 4. When choosing a graphic T-shirt, make sure the design is you and not someone you're trying to be. Avoid neon splatters if you don't like to stand out. Vintage-look T-shirts look stylish, lived-in and casual. 5. When in doubt, throw on a plain white undershirt, add a cardigan and dark-wash straight-leg jeans, Converse shoes and a cool pair of shades. You'll be right on trend.

Hey, guys. We get how much you love your board shorts, T-shirts and slippers. We really do. And, the look works — most of the time.
But then there are those occasions when you really want to — or need to — kick it up a notch.
Like when you're taking your girl to dinner and a movie. Or transitioning from high school to college or from college to career.
We're not talking coat and tie, just something with a little, ahem, style.
We asked emerging stylist Kyle Kagamida, a student at Kapi'olani Community College who also works at Michael Kors, for his take on how to make a move toward style.
Note: We found more cool T-shirts at Old Navy ($5) and 88 Tees ($19), as well as a great section of Mavi jeans at Second Skin ($74 to $118, but now at 20 percent off) and an amazing assortment of perfectly good jeans at Goodwill Beretania. Club Monaco has plenty of plaid shirts in different textures and fabrics for a range of prices, as do Banana Republic and Gap.
