RENO, Nev. — Tai Wesley, Brian Green and Pooh Williams each scored 18 points to lead Utah State to its 16th straight victory, 84-60 over Boise State in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference tournament yesterday.

Jared Quayle added 13 points and 13 rebounds and Wesley also notched a double-double with 10 rebounds for the top-seeded Aggies (26-6), who will play Louisiana Tech in today's semifinals.

"Both those guys are first-team all-league players, and they played like it tonight," Utah State coach Stew Morrill said of Quayle and Wesley.

Daequon Montreal had 16 points and Robert Arnold 14 points and eight rebounds for the Broncos (15-17), who shot 38 percent from the field compared to Utah State's 53 percent.

"It was a good game for the first five minutes of the second half," Boise State coach Greg Graham said. "They're good team. I hope they win and get that chance to go on."

Jamel Guyton had 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead fourth-seeded Louisiana Tech (23-9) over fifth-seeded Fresno State (15-18). Paul George had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Fresno State.

Luke Babbitt scored 21 points to lead four teammates in double figures and the second-seeded Wolf Pack (20-11) hit seven 3-pointers in the first half en route to an 47-34 lead in cruising past the seventh-seeded Vandals (15-16).

NEW MEXICO STATE 90, SAN JOSE STATE 69

Jonathan Gibson scored 22 points, Jahmar Young had 16 and the third-seeded Aggies (20-11) used a 12-2 second-half run to roll past the sixth-seeded Spartans (14-17).

Chris Wright scored 27 points and Vee Sanford put the eighth-seeded Hoyas (22-9) ahead for good, 60-59, with 10:35 to play to upset the top-seeded Orange (28-4) in the Big East quarterfinals in New York.

Luke Harangody scored 16 points, including three free throws in the final two minutes, helping the seventh-seeded Irish (23-10) hold off the second-seeded Panthers (24-8).

Lazar Hayward's 3-pointer with 1:51 to play gave the fifth-seeded Golden Eagles (22-10) the lead for good in their victory over the fourth-seeded Wildcats (24-7).
