A candlelight service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Crossroads to mark the seventh anniversary of the death of Rachel Corrie, an American peace activist.

Corrie, a native of Olympia, Wash., traveled to the Gaza Strip during 2003 with International Solidarity Movement volunteers at a time of intense conflict between the Israeli military and Palestinians. While trying to stop the demolition of a Palestinian home, the 23-year-old college student was crushed under a military bulldozer and died shortly afterward.

Offerings collected at the vigil will be donated to Gazan relief efforts. For additional information, call 949-2220.

AMOS TO DISCUSS FAITH AND HIS LIFE

Wally Amos, former owner of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies, will speak Sunday on the topic of: "How Strong is Your Faith." Amos will discuss his own life story of living by faith in good times and bad.

Amos will speak at the 9 a.m. service at Windward Unity Church in Kailua. The service will be followed by a reading session with children and a fundraising spaghetti dinner — with cookies for dessert. Amos now owns and operates the Chip and Cookie stores in Kailua and Honolulu.
