Softball Rainbows beat DePaul for tourney crown

Stephanie Ricketts won her third tournament game, and Kelly Majam hit a home run to lead Hawai‘i to the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha title with a 4-1 victory over DePaul today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Rainbow Wahine improved to 18-9, while DePaul dropped to 11-8.
Ricketts spaced seven hits over seven innings, struck out four and walked none for her 11th complete game of the season.
Majam hit a homer to left field to start the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie. After DePaul scored a run in the bottom of the inning, the Rainbows added three runs in the top of the fifth. Kanani Pu‘u-Warren and Jessica Iwata had run-scoring doubles in the inning.
Ricketts was named outstanding pitcher and Majam most outstanding player for the tournament.
