Helping Hands Hawai'i has received more than $3 million in the past six months to expand its services to the community. The grants totaling $3,149,037 came from various government and private sources.

The agency listed the grants and recipient programs as follows:

• $2,130,000 from the Hawai'i Public Housing Authority for the Childcare Assistance Program to help families who recently experienced a reduction in state-funded child care subsidies.

• $500,000 from the City and County of Honolulu for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.

• $400,000 from the state Department of Human Services for statewide emergency financial and school supplies assistance through the Community Clearinghouse and Ready to Learn programs.

• $68,250 from the Department of Human Services and the Hawai'i Community Foundation for SNAP Outreach to assist individuals and families in accessing SNAP benefits (also known as food stamps).

• $50,787 from Aloha United Way for homelessness prevention services through the Community Clearinghouse.
