As the "go-to" player for Nānākuli, Chardynae Morgan helped the Golden Hawks to a first-place finish (9-1-0 regular season) in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White West Division.

Morgan scored almost half of the goals for Nānākuli, garnering 13 of 29 to lead the team and tie for the division lead, and for her efforts, she was the named the OIA White Player of the Year.

"She was quick, she's tough, she's pretty resilient," Kailua coach Malu Afong said. "She's a good competitor on the field.

"That was their go-to girl and leading scorer."

Two other forwards join Morgan on the first team: Wai'anae's Janee Lee scored 13 goals and Kailua's Ashley Kanoho scored 11.

In the midfield, McKinley's Kylie Sato (5 goals), Kailua's Jessica Alameida (4), Wai'anae's Jamie Woodard and Kailua's Marissa Yoshida were picked to the first team.

Defensively, Kailua's Sierra Kadooka, Nānākuli's Lauren Ku, Waipahu's Tasia Cagbigas and Kaimukī's Caitlyn Lau are the first-team selections.

Kailua's Saige Manatad is the first-team goalkeeper.

Lee returns to the first team from last year, while Kanoho, Morgan and Kadooka moved up from the second team.

Afong and Wil Kimura, the Surfriders' long-time coach who died at the beginning of the season, were named the co-Coaches of the Year.

Kailua dominated opponents by outscoring them 42-1 and running through its competition with a 10-0-0 record.

The Surfriders wore armbands with Kimura's picture during the OIA Championship game, which they captured for the second straight year.
