An 88-year-old woman suffered fatal stab wounds at a home in Nuuanu this morning and police have taken her 61-year-old daughter into custody.
Bryan Cheplic of the city’s Emergency Services Department said paramedics were dispatched to the home at 7:47 a.m.
Cheplic said paramedics treated the woman at the scene, then took her in critical condition to a hospital where she later was pronounced dead.
Police Maj. Janna Mizuo said officers were sent to the home at 114 Rosebank Place about 7:50 a.m.
Police homicide Lt. Bill Kato said the woman had been stabbed multiple times in the upper torso. He said the daughter, who did not live in the home, arrived just over two hours before the stabbing.
"We have not heard there was an argument," Kato said.
Kato said the victim shared the home with her adult son, who was present at the time of the attack, and a 15-year-old boy who was not home.
Rosebank Place is in an area of older homes off Pali Highway, near Soka Gakkai International-USA and Queen Emma Summer Palace.
