Beamer 'ohana rallies to aid of relative with benefit concert
Kapono Beamer, Jon Osorio and Keola Beamer will headline a benefit concert March 27 for Kapono Beamers daughter-in-law, who was diagnosed with cancer in January.
Laua'e Beamer, wife of Kapono Beamers son Kamana, was eight months pregnant when she learned she had breast cancer. She gave birth to a healthy daughter, Halialoha Kawahinekapuanolani Beamer, on Feb. 4. The new mom is now commuting back and forth from Waimea on Hawai'i island to O'ahu for treatment. Keola and Kapono Beamer, besides being well-known contemporary Hawaiian musicians, are the sons of the late cultural practitioner and writer Auntie Nona Beamer.
The event will include a concert of Beamer 'ohana family and friends, as well as a silent auction and is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 27 at Calvary by the Sea church, 5339 Kalanianaçole Highway, Oçahu.
Ticket prices range from $25-$100 and are available at http://benfitforlauae.blogspot.com or at Native Books/Na Mea Hawaiçi at Ward Warehouse. The Web site contains updates and information on how to make gifts to the family for those who cannot attend the event.
