HONOLULU — U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has announced a $2.5 million award to expand the Early Childhood Education Center in the Federated States of Micronesia.
Officials said Tuesday in a Washington news release that a new two-story facility will be located on Yap. It will feature classrooms, offices spaces, and conference and training rooms.
The Federated States of Micronesia is a scattered archipelago located about 2,500 miles southwest of Hawaii. Its states receive operation funding and health and education program assistance under a compact of free association with the United States.
