Arboretum given $200,000 for Cushing Endowment
The Lyon Arboretum has received $200,000 for its Robert L. Cushing Endowment.
The donation was made by Susan Chamberlin, Cushing's daughter.
The gift is the second-largest ever to the arboretum.
"Gifts such as this, which supplement our established endowed funds, go a long way to positioning the Lyon Arboretum for financial strength and independence by assuring a reliable and predictable income stream," said Christopher P. Dunn, director of the arboretum. "This allows us to strengthen existing programs and to be nimble in response to changing strategic priorities."
The arboretum is situated on 193 acres in Mānoa Valley.
