MLB: Royals seek dismissal of hot dog lawsuit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals say a fan's lawsuit against the team and its mascot was filed in the wrong place and should be dismissed.
John Coomer sued claiming he was injured last summer when the Royals' mascot, Sluggerrr, flung a foil-wrapped hot dog into the stands at Kauffman Stadium and struck him in the eye.
The lawsuit was filed in the Jackson County Circuit Court. But the Royals say it should have been filed at the court's offices in Kansas City rather than the offices in Independence.
Royals officials were in Surprise, Ariz., on Thursday and not available for comment.
Coomer is seeking more than $25,000 in damages.
