KPD orders 16 more Tasers; wants all officers to have one
The Kaua'i Police Department's goal is to have a Taser for every Patrol Services Bureau officer, Chief Darryl Perry said.
The comment was prompted by a question about use of the electric-shock devices from Commissioner Russell Grady at the March meeting of the county Police Commission.
Perry said 16 more Tasers have been ordered for officers. Taser is a trademarked brand name for an electronic control device, or stun gun.
The Kaua'i Police Department is in the process of having all officers trained in the use of the devices, which are purchased incrementally as funding allows, Perry said.
