Cal State Fullerton ends Rainbows' five-game win streak, 3-0

Noe Ramirez fired a five-hitter and Cal State Fullerton stopped Hawai‘i’s five-game win streak with a 3-0 win tonight at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, Calif.
Ramirez (4-1) walked one and struck out 14 in the complete-game win for the Titans (11-10).
Josh Slaats (2-1) allowed three runs, six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings for the Rainbows (12-10)
The Titans took 1-0 lead in the fourth. Gary Brown led off with a triple to right and scored on Carlos Lopez’s single to center.
The Titans added two in the sixth. Brown was hit by a pitch to start the inning and stole second. Lopez doubled to shallow center, moving Brown to third. But a throwing error by second baseman Kolten Wong allowed Brown to score to make it 2-0. Lopez went to third when Tyler Pill grounded out to short. Slaats was pulled for Alex Capaul. With the infield playing in, Corey Jones grounded out to second, holding Lopez at third. But Lopez scored on Billy Marcoe’s single to short to make it 3-0. Marcoe as picked off first to end the inning.
