Alvin Nagasako, longtime educator and former principal of Kapolei High School, has been named executive director of the Hawaii State Teachers Association.
He will start work Monday, the teachers union said Saturday in a news release.
“Al’s experience in all phases of education including posts teaching and as principal, as well as his labor knowledge, political partnerships, and community involvement are the right mix to help move our association forward in the best possible way for our members," said HSTA President Wil Okabe.
Nagasako retired recently as principal of Kapolei High.
The HSTA also said that Wilbert Holck has been named deputy director and Ray Camacho negotiations specialist.
