University of Hawai`i softball player Stephanie Ricketts was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week today.
It's the sophomore's second honor of the season and fourth of her career.
Ricketts went 2-0 last week with a 0.41 ERA in two complete games against San Jose State. She pitched 17.0 innings, allowing just three runs, one earned, and struck out eight. In Friday's WAC opener, she threw a season-high 10 innings in the Rainbow Wahine's longest game of the season.
Boise State's Kathy Cox was named WAC Hitter of the Week. Rainbow Wahine Kelly Majam, who homered three times last week, was nominated for that honor. Hawai'i (25-11, 3-0 WAC) plays at New Mexico State on Saturday and Sunday, then at Utah State (April 6 and 7) and Boise State (April 9 and 10).
