The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag alert for leeward areas of all islands.

The weather service says strong, gusty trade winds combined with dry foliage and low relative humidity will create dangerously ideal brushfire conditions, especially in the late morning and afternoon hours.

The warning remains in effect until 6 tonight.

Residents in areas near dry brush should be especially vigilant.
