University of Hawai'i senior high jumper Amber Kaufman has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Kaufman soared 6 feet, 3.25 inches to win the high jump competition at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., last weekend. Kaufman's jump is ranked first in the nation and tops the WAC by more than seven inches.

HILO SWEEPS

Chris Pascual pitched a four-hitter, and Joshua Wong and David Keller each had three hits and two RBIs as Hilo beat Academy of Art, 11-1, yesterday for a sweep of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader at San Pablo, Calif.

Keoni Manago added three hits and an RBI for the Vulcans (9-19, 5-13).

In the first game, Manago had four hits, including a pair of two-run singles and a two-run double, and Hilo scored twice in the the seventh to beat the Urban Knights (2-26, 2-16), 15-14.

Kekoa Lee added four hits and an RBI, and Arlie Johnson had three hits and two RBIs for the Vulcans.

HPU SPLITS

Sherise Musquiz pitched a three-hitter, Maile Kim hit a three-run homer and Nicole Morrow belted a two-run shot as Hawai'i Pacific beat Academy of Art, 5-1, yesterday in the first game of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader at San Mateo, Calif.

Kim and Casey Sugihara each had two hits for the Sea Warriors (22-2, 14-2).

In the second game, Kimberly Dauer pitched a six-hitter and Nicole Smith hit a three-run double to lead the Urban Knights (18-14-1, 8-6) to a 3-1 win.

ELSEWHERE

Chaminade swept: Samantha Lipperd pitched a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts to spur Sonoma State (29-8) to an 11-1 victory over Chaminade (14-26) in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Rohnert Park, Calif. In the second game, Kayla Ledford pitched a five-hitter as Sonoma State won, 7-1. Elise Goodell had two hits for the Silverswords.

PADDLING

RELAY WINNERS

The team of Jimmy Austin and Manny Kulukulualani won the Kanaka Ikaika O'ahu Coastal Relay paddling race on Sunday.

Austin and Kulukulualani completed the 29-mile course in 4 hours, 10 minutes, 32 seconds.

The event featured one-person canoes (also known as OC-1), and each team could have two paddlers.

The course was separated into four legs, and each paddler had to complete two legs. The course started at Kailua Beach and finished at Magic Island.

Austin and Kulukulualani led from start to finish, and won by nearly 10 minutes.

Aaron Napoleon and Matt DuBrule finished second in 4:20:12.

Anna Mathison and Claire Townsend won the women's division in 4:37:16.

GOLF

UH TIES FOR EIGHTH

The University of Hawai'i women's golf team shot a final-round 310 to finish in a tie for eighth place yesterday in the Anteater Invitational at Dove Canyon, Calif.

The Rainbow Wahine, led by Erika Lundberg's tie for 22nd place at 76—231, finished with an 87-over 939 three-round total.

San Diego State topped the 15-team field at 47-over 899.

Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro shot 68—214 to win by three strokes.
