Police on Saturday arrested a 43-year-old Waipahu man on suspicion of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his former girlfriend, who lives in the same residence.

According to police, the man allegedly entered the 42-year-old woman's locked bedroom, restrained her with duct tape and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was able to get away and call police.

The suspect fled but later called police and surrendered himself without incident, according to police.
