Whale sanctuary feedback sought at public meetings

Advertiser Staff

The federal government is holding three meetings on the Big Island and Kaua'i this week to discuss management of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it will take the feedback from the public gatherings into account when it develops a new sanctuary management plan.

One meeting is slated for today at the Mokupapa Discovery Center in Hilo.

The next will be Tuesday at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort in Kona.

The last of the three will be Saturday in Līhu'e, in the Chiefess Kamakahelei Elementary School cafeteria.

Meetings have already been held on O'ahu, Maui and Lāna'i.
